WEEK 62

Happy Halloween!

Hola,

So I finally bought a camera! I bought it in a pawn shop haha. but everything there is pretty cheap. I bought this camera for 21 dollars or 385 pesos. (Yes I broke my other one a couple weeks ago...oops)

We had a lesson with a family that have been investigators for awhile and we had a lesson about plans and goals. Little different of what we do but it was a really good lesson. Think about the goals you have and come up with a plan to achieve it. Also more than anything think about Gods goal that he has for us and if we are following this plan. 

I had to give a district class this week like always but one of the topics is, What's better, the pain of discipline or of repentance? Discipline is necessary in order to improve and learn but we need to have also the obedience and diligence to the commandments of God. We will come to know that discipline is better than the pain of repentance. 

We were contacting in an area where we usaully do not contact and we knocked on this random door and it ended up being some inactive members and they were super excited to see us and they are wanting to return to the church. Crazy how God puts you in the right places in the right time.

WEEK 61

Happy Birthday Grandma!!!!!!!!!!!

Sounds like hunting season was a success this year! 

Feliz cumpleaños a la mejor abuela en el mundo! 

This was a pretty good week. We had a lesson with this elderly couple that are SUPER catholic haha. He just recently got his leg amputated and is in a wheel chair. This was a pretty interesting lesson because he can't listen very well. So legit through the whole lesson I was yelling haha it was super weird. He his not interested at all but his wife is super interested so we will see how that turns out. 

We had a lesson with the recent convert Beatriz and she invited her friend to listen to us so that is pretty cool how she has this desire to share the gospel. 

We had a family home evening with a family of members and also a family that they are not all members. We watched the restoration of the gospel and some activities. It was really good and the spirit was strong. You guys should watch that. We also ate some s´mores after. (first s´mores that I have had in Mexico) they were good. 

We had a lesson with recent convert Fernando and with another member to prepare him to receive the priesthood and he is excited. 

We also did contact a lot this week! It was good. It is really a neat thing to see how God puts people in your path.

WEEK 60

Feliz cumpleaños a Colton!

Hola Familia! 

So we had changes this week. I am staying in the same area of pastora 2 and I am still with Elder Headrick. I am also still a district leader. So everything the same. 

This week has been pretty calm. We set a baptismal date for the 11 of Nov. This week I have noticed that a sincere prayer and the desire to change really works. The investigators are really starting to make a difference in their lives. Fernando that just got baptized is preparing to receive the Priesthood. 

In this change some good buddies have finished their missions. Also, My generacion is the oldest gringos in the mission now so that is weird.

WEEK 59

Bautismo de Fernando

Hola

We had our zone conference this week and it was pretty good. They talked a lot on how we can improve our teaching skills and I have been applying it to my mission and I can see a difference. 

This last week was my birthday and it is super weird saying that I am 20. We ate tacos and also something kinda funny is that some members invited us over to get a reference at their house. But what we didn't know is that they were having a birthday party for their 10 year old daughter haha. So I mentioned that it was my b day also and so they sang to me haha. So I guess you could say that I crashed a b day party that wasn't even mine haha. 

Fernando was baptized this satuday!! He was pretty much a golden investigator. It was a good experience. 

I wish I could be home for this time of year of hunting and football haha but congrats to Jake!!

WEEK 58

Conferencia General

Hey fam! sounds like everyone has a a pretty good week! 

So to start off, my comp and I have been starting to work in a different section a little in our area. We were walking down a street and we passed a car when all of a sudden I heard growling and then this dog came out barking. This Happens often so we just kept going. When we got quite a ways away this dog searched for us with 2 other dogs and wanted to kill us! We were kinda trapped because there were cars on one side and dogs on the other. We finally crossed the street and ran away. 

General Conference was amazing!! I expect you guys watched it. 

After, we had a lesson with a mother and daughter and their story is crazy. They are living in the city because her daughter has to have treatment for cancer and so they have little money. she lives in Oaxaca which is where there were 2 big earthquakes and all of her family lives their including her 2 year old daughter. Even with all of these things in her life she has a lot of faith and a good attitude. 

Im turning 20 this week!!! pretty crazy!!  and thanks for all the birthday wishes!

WEEK 57

 Earthquake!!!!!!!!!

So I will start with the news that everyone wants to know. There was an earthquake in Mexico City. I am good. Our mission was almost not effected from it. I did feel it tho. I had divisions this day and we were contacting in the street when the alarm went off. I felt myself waving back and forth but I thought I was imagining it until I saw a truck moving side to side and the cables moving from power lines. It didn't last very long but since my area is all hill we went up to a spot where we could see the city and we saw a building fall down so that was crazy. Pretty sad what just happened. Everything is normal in my area and the missionary work is the same here. 

So the other big event was our baptism. This day was pretty crazy haha. It was on Brit's b day! and we cleaned the font cuz it was pretty dirty. After we started to fill the font and everything was working good so we left to go to appointments and to do the program for the baptism. So we filled it out good but then the printer wasn't working but when we got it to work again there was no ink! So we had to print it with blue ink and the fotos looked weird. So we showed up later than we wanted but when we got there the water stopped working and the font was not filled up.... so I was super stressed haha but with the help of some people we got buckets and we had to fill up water out side and fill the font up with buckets.... we finally got it and we started the baptism. I had to direct because the mission leader was sick. 

Her name is Beatríz Padilla Labra and when she was in the water (cold) she said that she felt the presence of our Lord with her and that the water felt warm and after the baptism she said that that presence never left her. She is a good convert.

WEEK 56

Happy Birthday Britney!!

So this week went pretty well and normal. 

We were going to have a baptism for Fernando this next week but then he drank alcohol during the Independence day here so we had to postpone it. But he told us that he felt super bad and is never going to do it again. 

We had a lesson with Beatriz .. an investigadora and she has been having problems with obtaining a testimony in the book of Mormon and in the profetas. But she has been reading and she bore her testimony about these things and it was super strong her testimonio. We put a baptismal date for the 22 of Sept. ( Brits b day) that tells you the power that the book of Mormon has. 

So my companion is doing really good. He came to the mission knowing why he is here so that is nice for a change haha. We are working super hard and good togetther. 

I miss and love all of you. Start the book of Mormon to feel the power of it.
