WEEK 57

 Earthquake!!!!!!!!!

So I will start with the news that everyone wants to know. There was an earthquake in Mexico City. I am good. Our mission was almost not effected from it. I did feel it tho. I had divisions this day and we were contacting in the street when the alarm went off. I felt myself waving back and forth but I thought I was imagining it until I saw a truck moving side to side and the cables moving from power lines. It didn't last very long but since my area is all hill we went up to a spot where we could see the city and we saw a building fall down so that was crazy. Pretty sad what just happened. Everything is normal in my area and the missionary work is the same here. 

So the other big event was our baptism. This day was pretty crazy haha. It was on Brit's b day! and we cleaned the font cuz it was pretty dirty. After we started to fill the font and everything was working good so we left to go to appointments and to do the program for the baptism. So we filled it out good but then the printer wasn't working but when we got it to work again there was no ink! So we had to print it with blue ink and the fotos looked weird. So we showed up later than we wanted but when we got there the water stopped working and the font was not filled up.... so I was super stressed haha but with the help of some people we got buckets and we had to fill up water out side and fill the font up with buckets.... we finally got it and we started the baptism. I had to direct because the mission leader was sick. 

Her name is Beatríz Padilla Labra and when she was in the water (cold) she said that she felt the presence of our Lord with her and that the water felt warm and after the baptism she said that that presence never left her. She is a good convert.

WEEK 56

Happy Birthday Britney!!

So this week went pretty well and normal. 

We were going to have a baptism for Fernando this next week but then he drank alcohol during the Independence day here so we had to postpone it. But he told us that he felt super bad and is never going to do it again. 

We had a lesson with Beatriz .. an investigadora and she has been having problems with obtaining a testimony in the book of Mormon and in the profetas. But she has been reading and she bore her testimony about these things and it was super strong her testimonio. We put a baptismal date for the 22 of Sept. ( Brits b day) that tells you the power that the book of Mormon has. 

So my companion is doing really good. He came to the mission knowing why he is here so that is nice for a change haha. We are working super hard and good togetther. 

I miss and love all of you. Start the book of Mormon to feel the power of it.

Nos gustaría informarle de que su hijo se le ha asignado a la siguiente área de responsabilidad en la Misión México Ciudad de México Noroeste. Él es asignado a trabajar en el área de Pastora 2 , en la zona de Cuautepec , y Élder Headrick es su compañero. Él está sirviendo como Entrenador.

Su hijo ha sido llamado y escogido para ser un entrenador en esta misión. Esto es verdaderamente el honor más importante que puede recibir un misionero en la misión. Se les pide que preparen, capaciten, instruyen y amen la próxima generación de misioneros. De verdad, es una asignación sumamente sagrada. Al enseñar el idioma, las lecciones, obediencia con exactitud hacia las reglas de la misión, él mostrará la clave del éxito de los que le siguen. Él también enseñará la importancia del estudio personal y conversión del Evangelio de Jesucristo, la restauración de este evangelio por medio del Profeta Jose Smith y la veracidad del Libro de Mormón. Él le enseñará del amor por las personas, que están verdaderamente dispuestos a aceptar el evangelio restaurado. Como él enseña y camina al lado de los miembros que están activos o menos activos, él aprenderá a enseñar de la manera que Dios nos ha enseñado por medio de sus siervos. Así, realizará y experimentará un crecimiento real! El Señor ha puesto su amor y confianza en su hijo en esta obra tan maravillosa.

Hermana De León y yo, nos gustaría agradecerles por su hijo. Él realmente está trabajando diligentemente para realizar su llamamiento con un ojo puesto únicamente en la gloria de Dios. Es un honor para nosotros servir con él. Estamos complacidos con su hijo y nos encargamos en asegurar que su hijo esté bien. Gracias por confiar su hijo con nosotros mientras servimos juntos en invitar a muchos a venir a Cristo.

Dear Bastian Family,

We would like to inform you that your son has been assigned to the following area of responsibility in the Mexico City Northwest Mission. He is assigned to work in the Pastora 2 area, within the Cuautepec zone, and his companion is Elder Headrick. He is serving as Trainer.

Your son has been called and chosen to be a trainer in this mission. This is truly the greatest honor that a missionary can receive in the mission. They are asked to prepare, train, instruct and love the next generation of missionaries. It truly is a sacred calling. As he teaches the language, the lessons, exact obedience to the mission rules, he will set the pattern for the success of those that follow. He is to teach the importance of personal study and conversion to the Gospel of Jesus Christ, the restoration of this gospel through the prophet Joseph Smith, and the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon. He will teach of love for the people, who are truly prepared to accept the restored gospel. As he teaches and walks side by side with the members who are active or less active, he shall teach in the way God desires the work to be done and will experience real growth! The Lord has placed complete love and trust on your son to not only fulfill, but magnify this awesome calling.

Sister De León and I would like to thank you for your son. He is really working diligently to perform his calling with an eye single to the glory of God. It is truly an honor for us to serve with him. We love him and shall do all we can to care for him. Thank you for entrusting him with us as he serves to invite many to come unto Christ.

WEEK 55

Entrenando otra vez

Hola familia 

So this week has been an interesting week. Since there are 2 white guys together they call us gringos more than usual. We are really working very hard together tho. 

So I guess there was a earthquake but I was sleeping when it happened and didn't feel anything. There was no damage from the earthquake in our mission. 

So the golden investigator that I told you guys about before named Fernando came to church for 3 hrs again! He has a big desire to know more about the gospel and to live it. He is going to move out of the area tho... but in like 2 weeks but we did put a baptismal date for the 23rd of September. He is super prepared. 

So funny story, I thought that I lost my camera last week "that's why I didn't send pics last week" but I said a prayer and I found it in my basketball shoes.. that was a miracle. 

We played ball today and my comp just wrecked everyone haha. 

I miss and love all of you !

WEEK 54

Los Gringos

Hello!!

 

So to start off I'll advise you of the changes I had. So I am staying in my area!! and I am also training again. Also I am still the district leader. 

So I am super happy and blessed to stay in my area.!! We have found a lot of prepared people and should get some baptisms this change! 

I am training Elder Headrick from Bluffdale, Utah. That's right I am going to train a white guy or "gringo" haah he knows the basics of Spanish pretty good but obviously struggling with it still. It is going to be really interesting this change. He is also a giant! haha he is 6 feet 6 inches 230 lbs. He is super good at ball. We get along pretty well also. 

Also the companion that I had before that was wanting to go home, well he is staying in the mission now so that is pretty cool. 

So something that is cool is that an investigator that we found when I first got here finally went to the church! Her name is Myra. We had to stop seeing her for a while but now we are teaching her again. We had a lesson with her this week and she says that she can feel that this church is the true church! That was a good lesson. 

So last week we took a taxi and he was asking us a lot of questions so I contacted him and ends up that he lives in our area! He is what we as missionaries call a golden investigator. He knows nothing about churches and does not have a religion. He understands the things that we are saying and always has good questions. We told him to start praying and the next lesson he told us that he feels a lot better and less in depression. He feels the love that God has for him. He went to the church and he went all 3 hrs and loved it. I can see him progressing a lot. 

That's about all I got but I miss you guys and love you all.
