WEEK 5

¡Hola!

This is my last week here at the CCM!! It's pretty crazy that I'll be out of the walls in like 5 days. I'm a little nervous but also way excited!

So there really isn't much to talk about this week because it's only
Wednesday haha. BUT I'll tell you how it's been so far this week. So I didn't have TRC this last Saturday for some reason and that kinda sucks because I like talking to real people haha.

Sunday was pretty good. We fasted a week earlier because it is General Conference this next weekend. We also had a testimony meeting in sacrament. It was a good meeting. I wanted to go up there and bear my testimony but there were too many people up there and not enough time. Oh and I can bear my testimony in Spanish really good now so that's way cool. That night we had a devotional by Jeffrey R. Holland. An old one that we just watched.. It was way good tho. It was pretty much just for missionaries but there was something in it that reminded me of Dad. He said something along the lines of this.. "In sports you always have to look at the other competitors and try to figure out what they are doing or figure out what you need to do to best run the play or stop the play. You can't just run set plays and expect them to work. The same goes with teaching an investigator. You need to figure out their problems and everything about them before you can really start teaching them" that reminded me of Dad because he would always tell me something similar when I was playing sports.

So our investigator teaching is going really well. It became easier and easier to teach and I use no notes anymore so it's just like talking to someone now.

One of the districts left yesterday and we were pretty close to a couple of them. They would play volleyball and hacky with us all the time. oh and ya it's hacky sac haha and cada dia means every day.. or literally each day.. anyways their names were Heramana Whitney and Hermana Harker haha don't worry I wasn't flirting with them. They were pretty cool tho.

Anyways I only have one more day of class this week because Friday we are taking tests and have to listen to a bunch of lessons so that'll be fun haha. and Saturday is General Conference. I can't wait to listen to conference! It'll be the last thing I do before I leave on Monday haha so it's a good way to start the mission out in the field. Anyways I challenge you guys to watch it or at least most of it haha and before you start, have a question in your heart before and I promise that it will get answered and also you will receive guidance and blessings by watching. so that's a pretty easy way to get all these things because all you have to do is sit and look at a TV screen haha.

And that's awesome that your guys talks went really good!!! I wish I could've beeen there!! And I'm way proud of you guys. So now I think they are used to you guys going to church so now it's weird if you don't go ;) haha but for serious ... And I love the pics you sent me!! Estoy muy agradacido.. (I am very grateful haha)
Anyways I love all you guys and miss you.
Hasta luego

I don't know my address yet in the field and no pics today sorry ... I'm getting a haircut tonight haha

WEEK 4-ONE MONTH!

!Hola! HAPPY BIRTHDAY BRITNEY!!!!... yesterday haha

Not a lot has happened this week but I'll tell you all I did. I went to the temple last p day which you saw pics of but I'll tell you more about it . It is about an hour away or maybe a little less. Kinda depends on traffic. The temple is so cool here and I always love the feeling I get while I'm there. It is also super pretty. and I learn something new every time I go. At the temple I bought those rings and also scripture covers for my Spanish set and they look pretty cool. I forgot to get a pic of them tho sorry.
On Sunday we watched a talk with David A. Bednar for the devotional night. It was way good! some Quotes that I like are... "Christ turns out and the natural man turns in" "Conversion is getting rid of the natural man" these quotes are so true and the natural man is selfish and only cares about them self. So get rid of the natural man. haha.
So this whole week we have been playing volleyball and hacky cada dia .. every day.. it's been super fun and that is a time for us to forget about Spanish and just have fun haha it's been nice. And we challenged another district and just destroyed them.. and we aren't supposed to be competitive but...... Last p day and this p day Elder Lloyd and I have been playing 2 on 2 beach volleyball with Elder Vogrinec and Elder Pihl. and we switch up teams every game and it's almost always even. I'll send some pics of that.
Elder Pihl, Elder Vogrinec, Elder Lloyd, Me

KILLING IT!!!

Oh and last week we did TRC which not really sure what it stands for but it's when we teach real people from Mexico City that mostly all of them go to church but it was still super cool and they talk a lot faster haha but I understood a lot of it. Her name was Paula or something haha but she just joined the church like 2 years ago so still a little new to it I guess. It was really fun talking and teaching to her and it made me excited to get out of the CCM.
Oh and our district name is the Giants because almost everyone is really tall. like elder Scott and elder Paul are 6 foot 4 haha and those 2 are also going to my mission. Everyone in our zone has a name for their district so some examples are like.. beehives , meatheads , the closet , and marshmallows haha they all have a meaning behind it but I don't want to explain all of them.
Only 10 days left!! kinda scary but I'm excited. 2 more Sundays. And I leave on October 3. And if anyone wants to send a package it will be greatly appreciated haha. It's like Christmas when someone gets one. And this weekend is the only days you have left to send any because any later than I won't get it because by time it gets here I'll be gone I think. OH and next p day is on a Wednesday so let people know and don't forget!!
OH !! And how was meeting with those guys and what did you talk about? And that's so cool you are talking at church! You will do awesome and Dad will too I wish I could be there for that. And after this Sunday I challenge you to keep going to church as much as you can because I know that it will be a blessing to you and dad and you will find happiness and joy out of it and your life will get even better. I promise.
I think that covers about everything I think . I love and miss everyone and keep being a better you.
OH and I think you guys will like this scripture  Mosiah 2:41

Mom's most favorite picture...when they say a picture says a thousand words....here you go!!!

WEEK 3

This week has gone by pretty fast so I guess that's a good thing. On Sunday it was 9-11 and we sang the National Anthem and it made me realize that I miss America haha. And on Sunday night M. Russell Ballard of the 12 talked live from Provo so that was really cool. There were some quotes that I would like to share with you. "Turn your life over to the Savior" "If you can learn to forget yourself and learn to love God and Jesus Christ, you will have power" and one that you would like Mom .. "Just smile and radiate" It was a good talk.
And on Tuesday we listened to Quentin L. Cook. And his was extremely focused on missionaries. His main message was "Feed his lambs, feed his sheep. It was also a good talk.
Anyways this week my district got really into beach volleyball and its super fun!! and we are getting pretty good too. So I'm staying in shape so that's a good thing. I don't think I've gained weight so that's a good sign.

Speaking of being healthy.. we finally got 3 good meals in a row yesterday! haha it was because it was Mexico's Independence day. They had some weird candy for us too. That night we had a celebration with all the missionaries. It was way cool. They had dancers and singers and videos.. it was a party haha fiesta .. or as close as I will get to a party haha. And sadly I didn't get any pictures but maybe you can search it up or something idk. That's about it of the week. Oh I got a haircut from Elder Gaither haha he's in my district. It looks pretty good. I'll send you a selfie or something.

And I'm good. The CCM is hard but fun at the same time. And I am learning more and more Spanish every day haha And I had a feeling you would send stuff and I wouldn't mind receiving more ;) haha and there is a store but they don't have sport socks but it's not a necessity so I'm fine. OH!!! and I washed my whites today with a stupid pen!! So I ruined some of my clothes .. so that sucks.. but I still have sufficient for my needs. And thanks for those pictures that was awesome!! I like those! And I'm 3 weeks down and 100 left to go haha but who's counting??? ;) also half way done with the CCM.. And this is my favorite time in Idaho and I miss it a lot!! but oh well .. And who won out of the Westside game?
Well that's about all I can think of right now so ..

hasta luego mi familia!
Love,
Elder Trevor Bastian

**Mom was able to talk kinda like text and here is some of the question/answers:

Mom:  Dad wanted to know if you have been able to see the Big Dipper and the North Star yet?

Me: I actually thought of that this week!! I forgot it in my email but sadly no haha the pollution and lights are too much so you cant see a lot of stars .. I can see the moon tho.. haha

Mom: And have you and colt been able to email each other? Who else have you heard from?

Me: haha and no not really we haven't had time

Mom: Are u wanting more doughnuts and if so do you want plain or assorted and how did the chocolate milk taste?

Me: I honestly don't care what you get me .. maybe some pop .. haha like some cream soda if they have any and the milk was a little warm and donuts are good and like maybe chips idk

**I sent him some assorted doughnuts and Hershey's chocolate milk through the site he told me to go to....Mexico Missionary MX

WEEK 2

¡Hola! ¿como estan? como fue iglesia? y que senimientos  tiene? haha thought I'd start off in Spanish. Mi español es bueno perro still mucho trabajo. OK I'll stop with the Spanish. Teaching my investigator gets easier and easier every time. Oh and I'm emailing a little later today because we had to go to some immigration thing in the city, and my camera was being dumb last week so no pics of the temple lo siento (I'm sorry). I think I know how to fix it tho.
The package was sweet thanks!! It was really good. I wouldn't mind random stuff like that from time to time haha and no I don't need pb and j . I'm used to the bed now I sleep really good, and what was the score of the football game against Flier?
That's cool that that missionary was from Mexico City, you should ask him what part he lives in the next time you go to church.. haha
That's good it's going fast for you and it's going pretty fast for me too. Almost 3 weeks. Oh and we listened to D Todd Christofferson, from the 12, live last Tuesday and that was cool. It was a live broadcast from Provo.. still cool tho. He said it is better to be trusted than to be loved. I thought that was a good quote.
I'm still doing good and everything is doing good so you don't have to worry about me haha.
Oh and if you could send me some sport socks that would be good I'm getting holes in mine haah from balling too hard. But if not oh well.
My testimony is still growing and the spirit is super strong. I got a challenge for you .. haha .. so just take a second and really ponder why me and Colton are out on missions and then pray to God and ask him why. I promise you will get an answer and you will feel the spirit.

Anyways .. I love and miss you guys so much!!
Hasta Luego

WEEK 1

FIRST WEEK
¡Hola madre! I have so much to tell you!! First of all sorry for not emailing yesterday it turns out that my p days are on Friday haha. So anyways the plane ride was pretty long and really warm and it was full of missionaries. When we got off the plane we got on the bus to head to the CCM or MTC.. and we drove through Mexico City which was pretty legit. The city is so crammed and the traffic was crazy. People would be selling stuff like to the cars on the road. They would just have a sign and a basket of things. soooo my apartment is alright. I'm on the 3rd floor which sucks because I have to take the stairs everyday but the view is really cool and I can see over the walls that keep us in haha. But the beds are hard but I'm getting used to it. I have 1 pillow. And the traffic is super loud at night. The first night I was there I saw Elder Marshall so that was sweet! I sat by him and his district at the devotional and he kinda helped me get settled in. The First like 3 days were super overwhelming. The teachers speak Spanish and we were having classes allll day!! And we have to memorize a bunch of stuff in English and Spanish. But the days are getting shorter and my district is pretty awesome. My Companero is cool he is from Alpine, Utah and we work good together. We had to teach our first investigator which was really scary because it had to be all in Spanish. But now it's a lot easier to teach him. Now we have to do 2 investigators so it's getting pretty intense. The weather here is super nice. It rained a lot the first week but now it's not. The food kinda sucks haha. Some of it is really good but most the time it's some weird Mexican food with no flavor. Like we had soggy chips for breakfast with weird tasting sauce on it haha. But I'm still healthy and haven't gotten sick yet. I've been playing basketball most days during gym time. Most everyone I play with are good and are athletes. I dunked so that's  pretty cool. It's True of what they say... if you make it to Sunday you're good. Sunday was really cool and mostly in English so that's good. My testimony has grown so much at the CCM. This church is no doubt the true church and I feel the spirit so much here, I know I wouldn't be able to do this without God and Jesus help. I pray like 20 times a day or more I swear haha. Oh and I'm going to the temple today so that will be a good experience. It'll be interesting doing it in Spanish haha. oh!! and look up missionary package MX you can send me emails through it and they print it off and give it to me that day. And you can get me like donuts or candy and stuff like that. But only when I'm in the CCM. Soo you should do that haha and tell everyone else about it. It'll be nice getting letters. And yes I did see Styrling in the airport that was really cool. And Congrats on the Job DAD !!!! that's  way cool. And that's sweet that Britney found a good job that fast. I hope she likes it there. And Malad sucks haha and for the scripture, I like the one Colton did but I don't want to copy haha  oh and Mi español es muy bien jaja just jokin but it's getting better every day. I can pray in Spanish and give a short testimony in Spanish and I have stuff memorized in Spanish. Anyways, Love all you guys and I miss you all soo much and be strong and always try to be a better you.
Hasta luego  familia y amigos

ARRIVAL TO MEXICO CITY CCM

Hey I'm alive haha I'm at the Mexico MTC right now and it's really cool! The plane ride was long but it was good talking with the other Elders. The whole plane was pretty much all missionaries. And it's so different in Mexico haha it's crazy! loco! But the p days are on Thursday but not this Thursday next Thursday. And I'm not done doing everything yet. I got my name tag and I know who my companion is but I haven't met him yet haha It's Elder Lloyd. There's a lot to say but not a lot of time so love you guys and I'll email you next week. I'm doing good and I'm enjoying it already even tho I've only been here like 45 minutes haha
Hasta luego familia!!

This picture was taken by a flight attendant and said, "I love when we have missionaries on our flights". There were 110 missionaries on that flight (132 total seats) going to Mexico MTC. Trevor is on the left side in the aisle 4 rows from the back of the plane. This is "THE" flight you want to be on to know you are being watched over!! Can't ask for more than that for sure!

The day started with hearing a great talk from Trevor on preparing for his mission and what he wants to accomplish within his 2 years serving for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Afterwards we were able to visit with family and friends at our home with a luncheon from Costa Vida (His favorite place to eat). It warmed our hearts on how many came to support him and the wonderful conversations we shared.
